The first weekend of June starts off our regular season of forays. 3 groups were able to go out, led by myself (Ashley Simon), Ray Smithson and Don Johnston. This was Ray's first time leading a foray group for MSU, a big thank you! Some lower elevation was explored, but mostly the forays all focused on the mid-Mirror Lake Highway area (~Mile Markers 14-26). Snowbank fungi were plentiful, and we saw the return of the beloved (at least by me) Gyromitra montana. I've included a favorite dish I make with it after thorough cooking, which is "snow bank morel" alfredo.
See you next month!
